Couldn't agree more! We have many designations from Senior Specialists, to Resort Specialists to Luxury Home Specialists -- but we tend to focus heavier on following the passion we enjoy most -- Luxury Homes in a Resort Market, and we find that marketing ourselves in this way has actually brought us more general clients (even the smaller homes)... seems like they think that if we can market a luxury home - that we could also do a wonderful job with marketing a smaller home too.

I am no longer a Realtor and am an artist. However marketing strategies still work in the same way. I do still sell painting but I am painting smaller. I am growing in my niche - pet portraits and palette knife painting. I am constantly tweaking my on-line presence and business.
And the tried and true marketing I learned as a Realtor still works - drip marketing and all.
We all need a little failure in order to learn what works and what doesn't.

This is such a hard concept for most agents (get smaller to get bigger) to see and believe. Most are so scared to even visit this idea thinking that they will exclude potential business, which we know is NOT the case. Working as a VA for 70+ agents nationwide, I can tell you that the most successful clients we have are specialized. It works, but only if you fully commit.

I couldn't agree more with the statement of "get smaller to get bigger"! Since reducing my reach in the Phoenix area to short sale listings and active adult community buyers I've seen my business pickup increase.

I look at like a doctor, a general practitioner makes good money but a Specialist makes the big bucks!
